Colt U. S. Cavalry Model Single Action revolver, .45 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, #7661. This gun is in overall good to very good condition showing all matching numbers including the barrel; the “P” proof and“A” Ainsworth inspector’s stamp are visible on the barrel, the cylinder and the “A” inspector’s stamp is also visible on the trigger guard and backstrap; the action is crisp, the markings are sharp, the bore is very good and the grips aregood to very good with a partially visible inspector’s cartouche on the left grip, a loss to the right front toe, wear to the bottom edge of both sides of the grips and scattered other minor old mars and dings from carry and storage. The gun retains a heavy, un-cleaned brown patina with a thumbprint size spot of old pitting on the left side of the barrel just behind the “donut hole” ejector rod actuator and some pitting around the right side of the front sight; otherwise, onlyminor occasional scattered pinprick pitting. This very desirable Martial Single Action is accompanied by an original wrapped box of Frankford Arsenal Cartridges dated 1878, 2 cleaning rods and a correct military brass
