Colt U.S. Artillery Model SAA revolver, .45 cal., 5-1/2” cal., blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, frame #133882, trigger guard #6087,butt strap #1791. This gun is in overall very good + condition showing approx. 30% original blue finish and traces of case colors on the frame with balance gone to a grey/brown patina; crisp action, very good bore and markings including “R.A.C.” inspection marks on barrel, back of cylinderand frame; top of backstrap shows portion of “A” inspector’s mark; grips are overall good with partially visible inspector’s cartouche and date on right grip; a really decent Artillery Model with early trigger guard andbackstrap; included is a copy of a factory letter dated Jan. 5, 1989 indicating the gun was sold to the U.S. Government and shipped on July 11, 1890, one of 300 in shipment; also copy of a letter from the consignor’sestate dated Oct. 7, 1988 indicating the gun had been in the collection of a Charles Bryant, originally of New York, since before 1961.
