Colt U.S. Artillery Model SAA revolver, .45 cal., 5-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, #116739 (D.F.C. inspected); an unusual example of an Artillery Model given it retains matching serial numbers 116739 on the triggerguard and backstrap (with “G” inspector’s mark on both); no # on cylinder, “R.A.C.” inspector’s mark on back of cylinder; barrel is also numbered 6739 and “D.F.C.” inspected. The gun is in fine overall condition displaying the majority of itsbright blue finish on the barrel, ejector rod housing, cylinder and straps with a large hand cut rack number “21” on the top of the butt strap; the majority of its case color remains on the frame and hammer; the action is crisp, themarkings are sharp, the bore is fine and the grips are also fine with no visible cartouches but a sharp “R.A.C.” inspector’s marking on the bottom of the left grip.
