Colt U.S. Artillery Model SAA revolver, .45 cal., 5-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, #31589 (L.D. inspected); trigger guard is #55864; backstrap is #98680; cylinder is #7083 with “J” inspection; barrel is #2685 and “R.A.C.” inspected. This gun is in overall very good condition showing considerable muted blue on the barrel, ejector rod housing, cylinder and straps with that blue more pronounced in protected areas; frame shows contrasting silvery toning and traces of case color in protected areas with hammer also showing case colors; the markings are good with the “U” of the U.S. being not fully struck and missing only the bottom curve; the action is crisp, the bore, very good +, the grips are alsovery good + with sharp cartouches on both sides: left being “FH” with the date 1884 and right being “DFC”; also, the bottom of the right grip is stamped with the “D.F.C.” inspection.
