Colt Style ''Coat of Arms'' Flask, by American Flask & Cap Co. (Rapley #F39). This is the flask advertised in the Colt's wholesale price list for 1860. Flask with correct patent screw-off top with tapered charger, showing left pointing cannon and American flags facing both directions with Federal eagle. Above the eagle is two rows of stars surmounted by two crossed pistols. Below the cannon are a bugle, helmet, anchor, etc., with smooth thumb lever. This flask has two suspension rings and holds 8 ozs. of black powder and is finished with a standard brown lacquer with gilt top. This narrow diameter spout variation was used for 1851 Navy revolvers. (Rapley, page 103.) Condition is excellent with coffee-colored patina to brass body. Some lacquer remains to top, with small impressions in spout. Est.: $500-$750.
