Colt Single Action U.S. issue revolver in Custer range, .45 cal., 5-1/2" barrel, patina finish, wood grips, frame #5676, in lot 6 of pistols likely issued to 7th Cavalry. The cylinder shows the last 3 digits of theoriginal serial #653, the first digit top is viewable and may have been an 8; the cylinder shows P and HN inspection; the last two numbers on the trigger guard appear to be a 94 and a 7, which matches the 7 on the frame, is spaced far to the left edge with a small G inspection. The butt shows 132129 with a K sub-inspection. The grips are wood one piece arsenal type replacements of the correct period with no cartouches. Thebarrel shows a metallic address and early ejector rod housing with a donut shaped head, brass spring, cylinder pin with hole. The hammer is correct black powder military type with no inspection; the metal surfaces havebeen cleaned and are drifting back to a light patina. The front sight has been reduced slightly. The action is good, the bore is rough. This old veteran was used hard by the military and carried a long time. The
