Colt Single Action Army revolver, used by W. F. Sparr to kill “Tulsa” Jack Blake, a member of the notorious Doolin Outlaw Gang. Sparr was a U.S. Marshal in Chris Madsen’s posse, and the Doolin gang was infamous in the old west and worked with the more well-known Dalton gang and Doolin would have been at Coffeeville had his horse not gone lame. Tulsa Jack Blake was one of the most infamous “Oklahombres”, who were put down by gunfire and hanging in 1890-93. The backstrap is period gold inlaid “From W. F. Sparr to J. J. Tearney”. .41 caliber, 4-3/4” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, serial #124570, pearl grips, shipped E.J. Post & Co. Albuquerque, NM. November 10, 1888, one gun in shipment. Features confirmed by factory letter but pearl grips not listed. The revolver shows strong traces of original blue and case hardening. Good sharp barrel address and markings, just some normal handling and carry in a holster. Good action, good bore, good overall. A few marks on the cylinder pin, and one or two screws slightly marred. The stocks fit the gun perfectly and have always been with it, showing some age, some small losses at the edges. Original documentation shows the gun descended in the
