Colt Single Action Army revolver, originally US cavalry series, barrel shortened to 5-1/2” in the artillery style, reblued and re-casehardened finish, replace military style walnut grips with no cartouches, Henry Nettleton inspected, serial #49172. The pistol shows all matching visible serial numbers and “W” sub-inspection on barrel (Wheeler). All other major parts show Henry Nettleton inspection except grips which are not cartouched. The pistol is near an example 49300 which went to Cebu Police and 49284 which went to the New York militia. The pistol shows 95-98% of what appears to be an arsenal or factory reblued finish, similar to artilleries. Some slight wear at the edges and cylinder. Slight index line, but very little use since refinishing. The backstrap and triggerguard show proper streaking which is found in this range. All proper marks, HN on backstrap, except hammer an unmarked arsenal replacement of the 1890’s which is case-hardened matching the frame. An early type ejector rod housing, ejector rod head and spring of the correct type for the early barrel match up perfectly. A very interesting Henry Nettleton full matching “artillery” that may have been rebuilt
