Colt Single Action Army revolver in .45 long Colt caliber with 7 ½” barrel, bright re-nickeled finish, hand-made silver and gold ornamented grips, inscribed “Uncle George the “Ace”, from the Dalton gang” on the right grip. Serial number356264. An authenticating letter from the Granddaughter of George E. Marshall confirms that this pistol belonged to Marshall who was a well-recognized Hollywood director in the golden era and worked on the 1940s film “When theDalton’s Rode” which starred Randolph Scott, Kay Francis, Andy Devine and other memorable performers who appeared in this golden era Universal production. The revolver shows 95% plus bright old re-nickeled finish with some smallareas of aging and slight losses. The interior is excellent with a near mint bore and the edges are very sharp and the letters are crisp. This late single action was like new when refinished and saw a little use afterwards. A factory letter mayindicate to whom and where it was shipped. It possibly could have been one of Randolph Scott’s as he had a number of single actions in his collection and also Andy Devine was a collector and shooter. With carved triple loop leather
