Colt Single Action Army revolver in .45 long Colt caliber, barrel shortened to 4 ½” from 7 ½” during period of use, Brown patina finish, one piece wood grips, serial number 36764 made about 1875. This single actionshows a dark brown patina finish with some scattered light to moderate pitting and erosion with some faint traces of blue mixed in. The front sight has been re-positioned when shortened and the shortening done in the 19th century in our opinion. The pistol shows all matching visible serial numbers. The cylinder pin and frame screw have been slightly marred. An early donut style ejector rod head is retained. The grips fit well and are original with just some minor edge wear and are at least very good overall. Good action, bore is fair and may clean to very good or better as it is dirty. An early single action probably used on the frontierand cut down out West to be carried in a holster before short barrels were available. Est.: $1,000-$2,000.
