Colt Single Action Army revolver in .45 colt caliber, 7 ½” barrel, U.S. Calvary series inspected by D.F.C. with civilian style varnished wood grips, serial number 81986. Possibly a military overrun or buy back as the varnish wood grips fit impeccably and are probably the original. The metal surfaces retain a blue to brown patina finish with some scattered light erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. There is good blue and case hardening mixed in the brown patina perhaps as much as 10% to 20%. The barrel address is clear and legible as are the patent dates. All matching visible serial numbers but no sub inspection on the trigger guard or back strap. Inspected on the barrel, frame and cylinder D.F.C. The barrel shows a matching serial number also a large C by the boss and a small G. The ejector rod housing spring and entire ejector mechanism and is correct. The action is tight, the bore is very good plus and still bright. The varnished wood grips show 75% varnish and slight wear at the edges with some small losses and just normal aging. A very nice Colt single action with all matching visible serial numbers. Gale Kennedy historical West collection. Est.: $3,500-$7,000.
