Colt Single Action Army revolver in .45 caliber, barrel shortened to 5 ¾”, fully silver overlaid in Mexican tradition, pearl grips, serial number 14101. The silver overlay is the type of work seen on Mexican spurs from about the turn-of-the-century to 1940 and the metal surfaces were bright fire blued at the time of this silver ornamentation. The revolver shows 30% to 50% re-blued finish drifting to a gray patina. The grips are slightly loose on the frame because there is no pin and the grips are of the pre-war era and contemporary to the decoration of this revolver in our opinion. The action is good, the bore is rough and the front sight has been slimmed-down greatly. The ejector rod housing is replaced from another revolver does not fit well but is decorated to match and contemporary. These silver overlaid Mexican show guns have dried up and are seldom seen on the collectors market. Gale Kennedy historical West collection. Est.: $2,000-$4,000.
