Colt Single Action Army revolver in .45 Colt caliber, 7 ½ inch barrel, old re-blued finish, replaced later Colt hard rubber grips, serial number 75495. The revolver shows an old dipped type blue with little to no evidence of polishing. This old blue has drifted to a mellow brown on the barrel and in some areas on the frame. The barrel address, three line patent dates and caliber marking are all very visible as are the serial numbers. The edges are still fairly crisp and metal looks good. The front sight is nearly its full height and the action is good. The bore is very good plus to near fine and is still bright. The single action is contained within a single loop holster decorated with nickeled plated brass studs with a cartridge belt of about the same era that shows a couple of old repairs one of which has ripped again. The holster was opened up at the bottom to let a 7 ½” in as it was originally a 4 ¾” holster. A decent and early black powder single action. Factory letter does not mention barrel length or stocks but confirms .45 caliber shipped to Simmons Hardware St. Louis, MO January 4th 1882. Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
