Colt Single Action Army revolver in .44-40 caliber with 4 ¾” barrel, patina finish with traces of blue and case hardening mixed in. Replaced wood grips, serial number 279894. The metal surfaces show some scattered light erosion and surface pitting with a faint hint of blue and case hardening showing where protected. The markings are good and the barrel shows desirable roll dye marking “Colt Frontier Six Shooter”. There is some scattered pitting and erosion with the heavier pitting occurring on the left side of the barrel and top of the frame. The old handmade grips show a diamond shaped brass escutcheon. The front sight has been slimmed slightly. All matching visible serial numbers, good action, fair to slightly rough bore. Included with the single action is a carved leather holster of about the same age that has been nicely repaired and re-backed long ago. The holster is accompanied by a more modern belt and two old knives in an old leather sheath showing Western-style loop with star stamped on the center. The hunting knife is marked “Edge Brand Solingen, Germany” with a yellow stag grip and number 473, and the trade steel type skinning knife is unmarked and is a Green River style. The knives show use and are in fair to good condition. An attractive rig with a large belt for a big man size 42 to 46. Factory letter confirms caliber and barrel length also shipped blue with stocks not listed to Copper Queen Mining Co., Bisbee, Territory of Arizona, July 6th 1906, with 3 guns in shipment. Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
