Colt Single Action Army revolver, US martially marked, .45 caliber, 4-3/4” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, serial #4340 on frame. This revolver shows an ampersand on left front trigger guard bow indicating return to the factory for repairs. The revolver is fitted with a 1930’s era Colt Single Action .45 marked barrel, with shark-fin high thick front sight, two-line barrel address, and matching ejector rod housing and rod to this era, and a polished side late prewar Colt hammer. The cylinder is HN inspected, serial #0256, with “P” proof. The triggerguard shows 8291 serial number with Ainsworth inspection. The backstrap is serial #120410 and shows no inspector’s mark but is military type finished. The barrel and ejector rod housing show 90-95% Colt blue. The frame shows 30-50% case hardening drifting to silvery grey with some good colors showing on the front of the frame. The cylinder shows 10-20% original blue. The triggerguard shows 30-40% blue. The backstrap 10% blue. Good tight action, excellent bore. Crisp overall. Serial number range of frame near ‘4330’, which was issued to Company F, 2nd Cav. This Single Action Colt’s story is known to
