Colt Single Action Army revolver, US Artillery series, .45 caliber, 5-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, frame serial #1454 falling in a range of issue between 7th and 8th Cavalries. Theframe shows a small British proof above the serial number and another beneath the barrel indicating possible use in the Battle of Britain where old guns were sent to Britain to defend the homeland. The triggerguard isnumbered “112559” and shows a “G” inspection. The backstrap is numbered “112559” with a “G” inspection. The cylinder shows an “RAC” on the back with no other number. The barrel shows “P” and “RAC” proofs. The bottom of the grips show an “HN” stamp with no other cartouches. The revolver shows 50-70% original arsenal blue and case hardening starting to drift and tone with some erosion and pinprick pitting in the areas where thefinish has lifted. There is some arsenal type scratches and an index line in the cylinder with signs of use but no abuse. The hammer shows considerable case hardening, small parts and screws show bright original finish.
