Colt Single Action Army revolver, .44-40 etched BBL, factory nickel with original one piece ivory grips, S/N 108940. Made in 1884 and factory letter confirms nickel, barrel length and caliber. Date of shipment to J.P. Moore who was a large distributor (Letter is included). This Colt retains 20%-40% original lightly cleaned nickel finish with some minor surface erosion and beginning pin prick pitting that is minor. The etched panel is 30%-50% visible with "Shooter" well defined. Clear barrel address and 3 line patent dates. All matching visible numbers. The front sight is slimmed just a hair. The grips are original and show good mellow patina with 1 large chip from the right inside toe. Some scorch marks that are minor and even wear. The grips fit impeccably and are authentic to the period. The action is working with shallow notches from wear and good bore. Hard to find an honest 44-40 etched barrel that letters factory nickel and with a great date at the peak of the old west. Est.: $2500-$5000
