Colt Single Action Army revolver, .44-40 caliber, 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, hardrubber grips, serial #158525. The revolver shows factory reassembly numbers underneath the loadinggate and grips indicating return to factory for refinishing. The triggerguard shows an old lead collector’s tag with the name E. Miller stamped upon it and #226. Eban Miller and Lee McClellan were Southern California’smost prominent Colt collectors from the 1940’s to 1950’s. Miller’s name is mentioned in the forward and acknowledgments of Colt Firearms by Sutherland. He owned “Black Beauty”, the finest 1860 engraved Army knownto local collectors, and was prominent in Colt firearms collecting for 40 years. It is evident that he returned this Colt to the factory in the 1950’s for refinishing. The condition is fine to near excellent asrefinished, 95% original blue, some normal aging from slight use and carry. The grips are very good plus and correct to the original period.
