Colt Single Action Army revolver, .44-40 caliber, 5-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, hardrubber grips, serial #219229. Factory letter confirms features, shipped to Charles Eifeld Co, Albuquerque,NM. September 19th, 1911, two guns in shipment. Barrel shows roll die marked “Colt Frontier Six Shooter 44-40”. The revolver remains in very good original condition with 50-70% original blue and case hardeningevenly drifting and toning with some scattered light erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. Faint index line on cylinder. Very good grips with just some minor nicks in edgewear. Good markings, good edges. Frontsight nearly its full height. Action crisp, bore very good. All matching serial numbers. Bright finish on small parts. An exceptionally untouched single action shipped to New Mexico during the Poncho Villa andborder war era. Dr. Sterling Fenn collection.
