Colt Single Action Army revolver, .44-40 caliber, 4-3/4” barrel, renickel plated, old genuine to the period pearl grips with carved steer-head on right side and collector’s tag “John Wilson” attached. Serial #269822. Therevolver shows 85-95% of old renickeled finish that is drifting on the edges and shows some minor pitting and erosion where the nickel has lifted. The front sight is slimmed about half-way down, the markings are slightly light from polishing but all legible. The grips are good and show small losses at the toes and a nice even patina with good rainbow hues and are nicely carved with steerhead and are about the same periodof manufacture as the Colt, probably dealer supplied. The action is good, bore fair to good. All matching visible serial numbers. The John Wilson collection was formed in Texas and New Mexico and there were severalgenerations of gun collectors who acquired Western historic arms in this ranching family. Est: $2,000 - $4,000
