Colt Single Action Army revolver, .44-40 cal., 4-3/4" barrel, traces of blue and case hardened finish, hard rubber eagle grips shipped to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. December 31, 1891, 10 guns in shipment withfactory letter verifying all features except grips not listed, serial #144558. The revolver shows strong traces of blue and case hardened where protected, some scattered light erosion, pinprick pitting, good sharpmarkings including Colt Frontier 6 shooter roll die marked on left side of barrel. The front sight slimmed just slightly at the front, the hard rubber eagle grips are from an earlier Colt but are good and slightlyundersized. All matching visible serial numbers, good action, good interior, good overall. We would rate the remaining finish at 5-10% with some bright blue on the trigger guard, trigger, protected areas and somefaint case hardening mixed in the patina. Est.: $3,250-$4,500
