Colt Single Action Army revolver, .44-40 cal., 4-3/4" barrel, finely Germanic black leaf scroll engraved, with finely hand stippled backgrounds, raised carved ivory grips showing flying eagles with no screwhole, serial #S03777A, produced on custom shop order #4529A with letter from Barry Lee Hands recanting the story of this revolver having been stripped and polished by John Brown, who shipped them to Hands. The orderstates this is one of two guns for "bangers", one was sent to Hands the other to John Adams. Mr. Hands states that the engraving was very tedious due to the large amount of time to accomplish the hand stippledbackground. He further states he produced only one other for the Colt shop. The letter details the original of the scroll which follow the lines of the engraving. With duplicate of custom shop order #4529A, dated6/1/93.
