Colt Single Action Army, U.S. marked artillery series, frame serial #10165, in good original condition. The single action shows an italic barrel address, mixed parts, and military inspections as follows. Barrelis serial #1190, showing Ainsworth inspection, early boss and stud for first-type ejector rod housing, with early ejector rod housing, later military rod, early brass spring. The cylinder shows #6475, with no lead-in grooves and is the correct early type showing some wear and no decipherable inspections. The triggerguard is #17770 with “J” inspection. Backstrap is #5648 in prime Custer range. The Colt shows a good early hammer with considerable case hardening, correct cylinder pin, and remains in good to very good condition with 20-40% original blue and case hardening drifting to a grayish brown patina. There is somescattered light to moderate pitting. The heavier pitting is on the cylinder, some marks scratches, normal wear consistent with military use. The front sight has been reduced slightly and shows normal feathering.
