Colt Single Action Army Revolver U.S. Cavalry issue, .45 cal., 7 ½” bbl, serial #14164, inspected by Ainsworth. The revolver remains in original good to very good condition with a light grey to patina finish with some good traces of blue and faint case hardening within the patina. The italic barrel address is good and sharp, the front sight has been slimmed slightly. The bbl is matched and shows blue on underside, the ejector rod housing, ejector rod, boss-stud and spring are all correct. The cylinder shows considerable blue and the frame shows good U.S. and patent marks with top line slightly light but visible. There is slight traces of blue on trigger guard and back strap where protected. The metal surfaces are fairly sharp and the pistol has evidence of light cleaning long ago probably when in service. There is some slight surface erosion and pin prick pitting, a few dings, mars and scratches and 4 interesting notches just behind front sight possible for battle engagements or kills. The grips show an old refinish and are slightly undersized. The action is good, bore good, all correct and matching parts, with “A” inspections excluding cartouche on grips. An Indian War Veteran in the Late Custer Era. Est. $9,000-18,000
