This is a Colt Single Action Army in .45 cal. Cavalry Model with a 7 1/2 in. barrel. U.S. Ordinance marked on the left front frame behind 1871, '72, '75 patent dates on three lines. S/N 91995 built in 1883 all numbers matching. A shortened S/N of 995 is displayed on the cylinder. The Bore is bright and clean without any pitting. The hammer is blued, the frame retains about 25% bluing. The one piece grips appear to be original but no ordinance cartouches are visible. On a black powder frame, the U.S. Ordinance inspector was "D.F. C." David F. Clark at Colt from 1861-1886. His mark is visible on the forward edge of the frame followed by the serial number. The Colt address is partial where the Hartford address is still visible while the forward part of the address has been polished-out on the barrel. Other inspector marks are visible: a "P" on the cylinder, and a "G" is stamped on the trigger-guard and bottom of the backstrap. The loading gate is #104. This revolver serial number falls within the range of other ordinance dispensed from the Springfield Armory in Massachusetts. (ref. Colt Cavalry & Artillery Revolvers Kopec and Finn). Luckily, this one has not seen any handling during the 1895 refurbishing. An El Paso Saddlery Co. holster is included. This gun is an antique and no attempt has been made to fire this gun to confirm its mechanical integrity. Nor should this gun be fired without the examination by a qualified gunsmith. Any attempt to fire an antique is at the risk of the owner and not consistent with the value of the firearm. No sales to New York City, New Jersey, California, and Hawaii. No FFL required.
