Featured in this lot is a Colt Single Action Army Frontier Model 1873 revolver chambered in .45 caliber manufactured in 1900. The Colt Frontier or Frontier Six-Shooter was a Colt's 1873 "Model P" type revolver manufactured in ".44-40" and later ".45" caliber. This revolver displays a 4 5/8" long round barrel, six shot fluted cylinder, walnut grips and fixed front sight. The side of the barrel is marked "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" with the top reading "Colt's PT F. A. MFG Co. Hartford. CT. U.S.A.". The side of the frame is marked with the Colt patent dates "PAT SEP. 19. 1871. JULY. 2. 72. JAN. 19. 75." with the Colt horse stamped next to the patent dates and the trigger guard stamped ".45 CAL". The revolver displays mismatched serial numbers with the primary number on the frame indicating the piece was manufactured in 1900. The revolver shows good condition overall for its age with good timing with snappy action and working mechanics. The exterior of the piece shows some light pitting and patina due to age and use with the grips showing little to no wear. Serial Number: 197512.
