Colt SAA revolver, John Adams engraved, .45 Colt cal., 4-3/4” barrel, nickel finish, pearl grips, #350893 with factory letter confirming caliber and barrel length and indicating originally finished in blue with hard rubber grips and factoryengraved “S.A.P.D. #85” on butt, shipped to City of San Antonio Police Dept., San Antonio, Texas on Nov. 17, 1927, order #137778/50, 50 guns in shipment; revolver is in overall fine condition as restored showing beautifully executed engravingincluding “S.A.P.D. No. 85” on butt strap, near fine bore, crisp action, very good markings and fine iridescent pearl grips; also accompanied by authentication letter signed by Master firearms engraver John Adams, Sr. noting his completion of“C” coverage custom engraving and nickel finish on this gun (referenced by serial number) on Jan. 22, 2014. A beautiful work of artistry on a historic Texas firearm! (C&R). Est.: $3,500-$7,000.
