Colt SAA revolver, .45 cal., 7-1/2" barrel, re-done nickel finish with later New York style engraving patterns, re-stamped serial numbers, beautiful raised carved pearl steerhead grips, #88092. This gun is inoverall very good condition as reconditioned and engraved in modern times, crisp action, very good bore, majority of re-nickel remains, grips are iridescent and thick with finely executed carving although they do notfit this gun exactly but still are valued at $1,500-$2,000 alone. Unfortunately, this gun was accompanied by a factory letter that indicated a gun with this serial number was shipped in the soft to Hartley & Graham inNew York on February 10, 1883 in a shipment of 25 guns; the estate of our late collector provided information to us that indicates the gun was apparently represented to him as completely authentic, an opinion with whichwe unfortunately disagree. The piece is not without attractive modern workmanship and the pearl grips are quite stunning. Est.: $4,000-$8,000.
