Colt SAA revolver, .45 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, checkered Rampant Colt black hard rubber grips, #225578. This gun is in overall very good condition approx. 20% original blue on the barrel assembly and cylinder, confined primarily to the protected areas with the balance gone to a light grey patina with scattered areas of erosion and some pin prick pitting, the frame retains strong traces of case colors in protected areas and the hammer also shows some faint case colors. The bore is good, the action crisp and the markings are clear and strong. The grips are overall very good showing some wear from carry. This revolver is accompanied by a double loop leather holster with a stock mark of “944” on the top loop and a stylized stamping at the top of the front portion of the holster that may be the maker’s trademark. Factory letter confirms all features except stocks “Not Listed” with gun shipped to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett and Co. in Chicago, Illinois on April 28, 1902, four guns in shipment.
