Colt SAA revolver, .45 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, Western style scroll engraved, gold plated, well-made ivory grips, #63983 in presentation style fitted case with maroon velvet interior. This revolver is beautifully engraved in BobBarlow style Western scroll engraving with stylized wolf-head on the hammer and other motifs taken from old West and Santa Fe design ideas; Barlow’s engraving is somewhat unique and he had his own style which was not a copy of the factorystyle but influenced by it. The markings are refreshed, the grips are very nicely border carved and beautifully made and would cost $1,000 to $1,500 to replace by themselves. The pistol has been nicely refinished and shows good edges, refreshed markings, matching serial numbers, blued small parts, good action, fair to good bore. The quality of the plating is also excellent in a rich gold appearance. Accompanied by factory letter confirming caliber, indicating barrel length of7-1/2” and noting shipment to Hartley and Graham of New York, NY on Nov. 4, 1881, 50 guns in shipment. (Antique). Est.: $4,000-$8,000.
