Colt SAA revolver, .45 cal., 4-3/4” barrel, blue finish, replaced smooth wood grips, #255878, backstrap inscribed “E C Abbott” and an inscribed “Rocking A” brand on top of the backstrap behind the trigger; accompanied with a double loopleather loop holster, a heavy leather cartridge belt (both un-marked), a 3-ring binder of information and letters related to research on this gun and E C “Teddy Blue” Abbott, a well-known Western cowboy and son-in-law of legendaryMontana rancher, statesman and head of the Vigilantes, Granville Stuart; also a signed 1939 hardback edition of “We Pointed Them North” by E.C. Abbott and Helena Huntington Smith. The gun is in overall good to very good condition showingmixed blue in protected areas and grey patina with scattered light pinprick surface pitting, crisp action, very good markings, matching visible serial numbers, good bore and very good grips. File includes a 1982 Colt factory letterconfirming caliber, barrel length and finish with shipment to A. Baldwin c/o Stauffer Eshleman Co., New Orleans, LA on July 19, 1904, 6 guns in shipment.
