Colt SAA revolver, .44-40 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, nickel finish, checkered eagle black hard rubber grips, #125205. This gun is in overall very good to near fine condition showing approx. 45% original nickel finishwith balance gone to a dark uncleaned patina, very good bore, crisp action, all matching visible serial numbers, very good grips showing even wear. This gun is accompanied by a factory letter confirming features andindicating shipment to Collins and Gordon Co., Omaha, Nebraska on February 18, 1888, one gun in shipment. Collins was advertised as the oldest gun and sporting goods house west of Chicago and the city was “wild andwooly” in the 1880s and 1890s; a really nice black powder single action sent to the West.
