Colt SAA revolver, 44-40 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, New York style engraving, later raised carved steer head pearl grips, #79754. This gun is in overall good condition showing an even brown patina on metal surfaces with some scattered spots of erosion and pin prick pitting, classic New York style engraving with an etched barrel panel that is worn but readable. The action and bore are good, the markings are good and there are slight hints of case color on the sides of the hammer; the grips are in overall good to very good condition and show some age but are not, in our opinion, contemporary to the 1880’s. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter confirming the caliber, finish, barrel length and indicating shipment to Hartley and Graham of New York, New York on August 30, 1882 in a shipment of 50 guns (likely where the engraving was accomplished). Est.: $5,000-$7,500.
