Colt SAA revolver, .44-40 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, New York scroll engraved in Nimschke style, re-silvered finish, one piece period ivory grips, #52096 showing approx. 90%-95% old re-silvered finish, that has darkened and almost turned black, engraving is still fairly crisp, just slightly lightening at the highpoints and edges from polishing when refinished; slight areas of pitting beneath plating on front of frame mostly; left side of barrel is stamped “44-40 WCF” in later die stamps in the panel where the etching would have originally been; original-to-the-period ivory grips fit very well with small losses at the toes, normal yellowing, edgewear, aging and a small scorch mark on the back of backstrap with some age cracking at the bottom but generally good overall and are probably original to this revolver; all matching visible serial numbers, good markings, good overall and good bore.
