Colt SAA revolver, .44-40 cal., 4-3/4” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, checkered hard rubber grips, #265024 in overall very good condition showing considerable original blue on the barrel and ejector housing, muted blue in theflutes of the cylinder, traces of blue in protected areas of the straps and traces of original case colors in protected areas of the frame with balance gone to a pleasing patina; very good + bore, crisp action, sharp markings andgood grips with carved initials on the bottom of each grip that appear to possibly be brands. Factory letter accompanies this gun and confirms caliber, barrel length and finish with type of stocks “Not Listed”, shipped to E. J. Post Co.,Albuquerque, Territory of New Mexico c/o Winchester Repeating Arms Co., New Haven, CT. on September 7, 1905, 10 guns in shipment with Remarks: “It is also interesting to note that during the time period of 1895 to 1915, Colt wasobliged by restrictive trade arrangements to use Winchester Repeating Arms Co. as an export agent”.
