Colt SAA revolver, 38-40 cal., 4-3/4” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, checkered hard rubber grips, #307519. This gun is in overall very good condition showing approx. 50% original blue and approx. 70% muted case colors with some knackering to the bottom side of the barrel where the cylinder pin was improperly removed; crisp action, sharp markings, good bore, good grips. All features confirmed by Colt factory letter except type of stocks “Not Listed”; shipped toHibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co., Chicago, Illinois on December 10, 1908, one of 10 guns in shipment. Accompanying this gun is a handwritten note dated April 13, 2006 from the consignor that states “This gun was obtained from the estate ofProfessor Harry L. Kent of Austin, Texas. Professor Kent grew up in New Mexico. As a young man he attended college at one of the military universities in New Mexico. While attending college, he became a reserve U.S. Army Officer. .. . His personal firearms record left a notation that he acquired Colt Single Action Army (serial number 307,519) a 4-3/4” 38-40, from Sheriff Philipe Lucero in 1926.
