y features. Factory letter states that this gun was handed over to the Gov't Inspector at the Colt Factory plant on Oct. 18, 1895. John Kopec further states that after examining this revolver that it was originally mfg'd in 1895 and was sub-inspected by A.P. Casey. Although this exact serial number was not found in the National Archives, many in this serial range were issued to the newly re-organized 7th Cavalry, which were called ''The Custer Avengers''. This gun falls well within the serial number range of these pistols. This and others like it were refurbished for the state of New York, and at the time of the refurbishment the original cylinder may have been replaced. Mr. Kopec further states that the grips are marked ''1st B 19 NY'', indicating that this revolver had been issued to Trooper No. 19 of the 1st Battery of the New York Militia. Mr. Kopec believes this revolver to be totally correct for a U.S. Militia revolver. Est.: $18,000-$22,000.
