back strap engraved John P Willis D.U.S.M. Colt letter confirms nickel finish, 4 3/4" barrel, hard rubber grips Shipped Feb 1889 to Meacham Arms St. Louis MO in 15 gun shipment. Records show Willis as U.S. Marshal in Missouri, period newspaper account relates his death in Butler December 1889 where he and City Marshal J.H. Morgan killed each other in a shootout when Willis tried to issue a warrant for Morgan's arrest. Included are copies of the account and previous manhunt by Willis for a fugitive a county judge captured 7 months on the run. Revolver shows polished to bright finish, matching visible serial numbers, correct grips with hairline crack to right side. Good action with good bore. Additional information is available on John P.
