RARE Documented Colt "Royal Northwest Mounted Police" (RNWMP) Model "Colt New Service" Revolver, serial number #149801 on frame and cylinder swing out frame, Cal. 45 Colt. The #149801 Colt Revolver is documented in the Force’s Records as being shipped from Colt to the Commissioner of the RNWMP on October 16, 1919. The back strap of this revolver is stamped “RNWMP 1702" , number 1702 indicates that it was the 1702 Colt New Service issued to the RNWMP. The bottom of the grip frame is also stamped MP next to the lanyard swivel. Top of 5 ½" barrel is stamped “Colt’s PTFA Hartford, CT USA – Pat’d Aug 5, 1884, June 5, 1900, July 4, 1905." Left side of barrel is stamped “New Service 45 Colt. Rampant Colt Stamped left side of frame. Original Colt oval hard rubber grips with a chip on bottom right grip and a small ding on bottom of left grip. The RNWMP was stamped on New Service Colt’s from 1904 to 1920. (RMWMP was changed to RCMP). A considerable amount of bluing remains on this revolver. Condition is Very Good and with working action. This revolver is accompanied by a period holster of the type carried by the NWMP/RNWMP in the late 1890’s and early 1900’s. No marking are visible, it does have the attachment for a shoulder strap. The hard bound (red cover) book, Titled “Arms & Accoutrements of the Mounted Police 1873-1973" by Roger F. Phillips and Donald J. Klancher also accompany this revolver. Page 189 lists the serial number of this revolver. Information (verbal) given when purchasing this revolver was that it was collected years ago in the Assiniboia area of Southern Saskatchewan, Canada. An attempt was made through RCMP Headquarters to verify to whom it (#1702) was issued but advised by them it was not possible with firearms going that far back. Requires FFL Transfer
