Colt Pocket Conversion .38 Cal #10575
This is a rare Colt Model 1862 Pocket Revolver of Navy Caliber factory converted to .38 CF, manufactured in 1862 and later one of approximately 3,250 converted to .38 CF, circa1873-1875. The barrel has the two-line Hartford address, two line conversion patents "-Pat, July 25, 1871-,& -Pat. July 2, 1872-" " marked on the left of the triggerguard, "36 CAL" on the left of the trigger guard, and the stagecoach hold up scene roll engraved on the cylinder. (a little feint) Matching visible serial numbers including "575" partial number on the cylinder. wedge is unnumbered. Modified RF hammer, & recoil shield with loading gate. Brass triggerguard and backstrap. Nickel finish is about 40% with holster/handling wear, two-cock action works well, grips are one piece period ivory with very nice mellow patina, brass grip strap has brown discoloration, the bore is fair, strong rifling, light pitting. Wedge screw appears to be a newer replacement. Comes with a period black leather flap holster and belt. Belt has a "S" snake buckle, the snake is iron with a green patina from age, the keepers are brass. The Confederate States imported these type buckles for use in the Civil War. Revolver is a perfect fit in holster. Overall good with a tear in the holster flap.
NRA Condition-Good. Antique Firearm.
