Consignor of the following six firearms states that they were purportedly donated to the University of Wyoming by Frederick and Clara Toppan, who were instrumental in establishing their Rare Books Library. Includes a copy of a letter from the University.
Colt Officer's Model Heavy Barrel Target Revolver, with King's Improvements,#650964, .38 Spec. cal., 6" barrel, blue finish, two-piece checkered ivory grips with ivory grip extension, ramped King red-bead reflector front sight and fully adjustable rear sight neatly cut into top of the frame. Revolver also features a King "Cockeyed" hammer and a finely checkered backstrap. Mfg'd 1940. Condition is fine retaining approx. 93%-95% factory blue. There is some light scratching to the right side of the frame and a little finish wear at the muzzle, edges of cylinder, and trigger guard. Factory lettering is clear, a portion of the barrel address is covered by the King sight. Grips fit a little small as there is a small gap between the frame and top of grip, both show moderate age and light wear, checkering is primarily crisp. Action cycles very smoothly, cylinder locks up tight. Bore is bright with clearly defined rifling. Est.: $2,500-$3,500.
