This is an excellent example of an original unaltered Colt New Service revolver as manufactured in 1913. This revolver has the desirable flat top frame and scarce "dual caliber" marking. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. / PAT'D AUG 5, 1884 JUNE 5. 1900 APR 9 01 JULY.4. 1905" and the left side of the barrel is marked "NEW SERVICE" followed by "RUSSIAN AND / S&W SPECIAL 44". The left side plate has the Rampant Colt behind the cylinder latch and the lower frame area above the trigger guard bow has the Colt "VP" Verified Proof and the rear section has the small inspector number "3". It has the checkered grip straps, hammer spur and trigger face, and square cylinder latch. Adjustable pinned front blade sight, windage adjustable rear sight and fitted with fancy checkered walnut grips with Colt medallions.
BBL: 7 1/2 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 44 S&W special
Finish: blue

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 90% plus original blue finish with some overall scattered thinning, areas of smooth gray patina on the muzzle end of the barrel, high edges and on the cylinder. There are several minor dings on the butt. With the exception of numerous small dings on the bottoms, the grips are very fine with a few minor dings and minor bruises in the otherwise crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
