Colt New Service Model DA revolver, marked on butt “U.S.M.C. Model 1917 No. 294038”, .45 cal., 5-1/2” round barrel, military blue finish, wood grips, #294038 in crane area. This gun is in overall very good to excellent condition showing approx. 98% military finish with “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” stamped under the barrel, various inspector stamps including “RIA” on the bottom right side of the frame, rampant colt on the left side of the frame under the hammer, lanyard ring, fine bore, crisp action, sharp markings, very good grips with flaming bomb at top of left grip, and on bottom of right grip. The USMC stamping on the butt strap looks correct however this gun is not in the usual serial number range for the Model 1909, possibly a later arsenal change. No factory letter accompanied this military New Service from the consignor. Est.: $1,750-$3,500.
