Produced in 1899. Blade and notch sights, with the standard two line Hartford address and 1884/ 1895 patent dates stamped on top of the barrel, "COLT D. A. 38" on the left, and the assembly number "990" on the latch, frame and crane. Checkered hard rubber grips with "990" on the inside. With a Colt Black Box, hand numbered to a different arm but properly labeled, with the orange tinted New Army picture label on top, the blue "4 1/2 Colt's New '94 Army D.A. Revolver .38 / RUBBER BLUE" label on the end, and an Ideal reloading tool advertising/ endorsement label on the inside of the lid.

Condition: Very fine, with 80% plus of the original high polish blue, showing a gray patina on the grip straps and hammer, mild edge wear and light speckling. Niter blue is strong on the trigger, with light spotting. Grips are excellent showing light wear and handling marks. Box is fine, with some staining of the top label, absent corners on the end label, slight internal damage from the revolver and edge and corner wear. Mechanically fine.
