Husky, Anderson County, Garrett, Texas, April 12, 1939 with one gun in shipment showing “Fitz” cutaway trigger guard. Under remarks: processed on order number 8529. The cutaway trigger guard is not specifically mentioned but the letter states that “the special factory order could have been issued for this work”. The trigger guard area are engraved in such a way that we have no doubt whatsoever that “Fitz” cutaway guard is 100% genuine to the factory. This National Match shows adjustable sights and retains 98% to 99% plus original nickel finish with some minor carry and slight use only. The metal surfaces are sharp and crisp and show no evidence of polishing. The barrel is correct and marked properly for a National Match and all the small parts are proper with a nickel clip. The pistol is accompanied by a finely carved and tooled leather holster with clip pouch of the same vintage that is marked Morrow, Taos. Only 25 national match Colts were factory engraved and only one other is known with a cutaway guard. Among the rarest and most desirable of all factory engraved Colt automatic pistols with interesting history to a Texas lawman. Est.: $50,000-$100,000.
