Vintage U.S. military large frame double-action service revolver chambered in .45 Automatic Colt Pistol, manufactured in Hartford, CT circa 1920. Revolver features a re-blued finish, 5.5" round tapered barrel, blade front sight, "U" notched frame rear sight, fluted six-shot cylinder, checkered cylinder release, non-shrouded ejector rod, knurled ejector rod head, blued smooth curved trigger, firing pin on hammer nose, in-the-white hammer, checkered hammer spur, smooth grip straps, lanyard ring on the grip butt, and correct smooth wood grips. Frame is marked “S/18" under eagle head, and “U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1917" & "No 113887" on the butt. Barrel is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", "COLT'S PT FA. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT U.S.A./PATD AUG 5.1884 JUNE 5 1900 JULY 4 1905," and a faint "COLT D.A. 45". Matching serial numbers '11438' on barrel, yolk, and frame. Revolver retains approximately 90% of its refinished bluing edge wear, some heavier nicks on the right side of the frame under the cyliner, and light scattered scratches. Metal displays no rust or deformation, nut the engravings are shallow, and not sharp from refinishing. Action is smooth and crisp with a tight lock-up. The bore appears frosty with strong rifling. Wood grips are very good with normal handling marks, and a chip by the left grip panel's screw escutcheon.
Condition is NRA Very Good.
