Colt Model 1911 First Navy Contract .45 ACP cal. semi-auto pistol, #561. The pistol retains 80-90% original blue finish lifting at the gripping areas of the straps and edges. The markings are sharp, the edges arecrisp, the pistol shows proper early marks including serial number at forward area right side of frame, model of 1911 U.S. Navy on right side of slide, early 1897 patent date on left side, United States property on leftside of frame with WGP correct proof. All correct early parts except three grip screws are old replacements. An early lanyard loop magazine is included. The markings are sharp, the edges are crisp, the boor is good. The first contract Navy started at serial number #500 and this is only 61 numbers into the series. The 3-digit 1911s are desirable and an early Navy is ultra-scarce. Est.: $7,500-$15,000
