According to the included factory letter, this pistol was one of 4 shipped to Hartley, Spabckhaver & Fay of New York City on December 27, 1911. Grips are "Not Listed", with the barrel, caliber and finish matching the gun. Research turned up no information on the firm listed on the letter. Fixed sights, with the right side of the slide marked "AUTOMATIC COLT / CALIBRE 45 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" ahead of the ejection port, the two line, two block address and patent dates on the reverse and the circled Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The left side of the trigger guard is marked "VP" and "W". Knurled casehardened spur hammer with half-cock notch. Fitted with checkered walnut grips, with the backstrap cut for stock mounting. This pistol is sequentially numbered to another Colt Model 1905 pistol in this sale.

Fine, with 30% of the original blue. Most of the original color is concentrated in the protected areas, with a mixed gray and brown patina forming overall, slight filing of the front sight, and some mild edge wear, spotting and handling marks. Grips are very good, with some pressure dents and a few dark spots. Mechanically excellent.
