Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless Semi-Automatic Pistol with Rare Japanese Contract Holster
Produced in 1926. The pistol is in the serial number range containing those shipped to Japan prior to WWII, see p.113 of "The Colt Pocket Hammerless Automatic Pistols" by Brunner, (429747-537979), while others were privately purchased by Japanese visiting the U.S. prior to WWII. Fixed sights, with standard two line marking on the left side of the slide following the Rampant Colt behind the serrations and "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 32 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" on the reverse below the ejection port. "1" over the "VP" marking on the left side of the trigger guard with "48" on the reverse. Fitted with checkered grips with Colt medallions. Included is a brown rare variation Japanese leather holster (generally see Hand Cannons of Imperial Japan by Durby & Brown p. 283-295 for some of the variations) with magazine compartment and one extra magazine.

Gauge: 32 ACP
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 469758

Fine, with 85% of the original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina with some pin point pitting mostly along the sides and upper edges of the slide edges. Grips are good with some minor dings, wear and minor flat spots. Holster is fair with some leather loss on the magazine compartment with the original shoulder strap D rings removed (a common practice of pacific theater GI's who didn't want to use shoulder straps) leaving the belt loop intact, overall minor age cracking and tight stitching. Mechanically excellent.
