Colt Model 1883 fanciest grade Double Barrel hammerless shotgun, engraved with panel scenes, 12 gauge, 29” damascus patterned barrels, S/N 6276, double triggers, deluxe checkered wood stock and forend, Rampant Colt checkered hard rubber butt plate. This gun is in overall very good to near fine condition showing a light grey patina to metal surfaces, dog and game bird scenes of either side of the frame, game bird scene on bottom of trigger guard; very good to fine bores, one action is crisp; the other is not functioning and needs repair. The wood butt stock shows beautiful graining and fine checkering with a fleur d’ lis carved section on each side of the front end of the stock; checkered forend with ebony tip. Per Flayderman’s Guide to Antique American Firearms (5B-264), The Colt 1883 shotgun “ranks among the best grade doubles produced in the entire American arms trade”. Manufactured between 1883 and 1895, only about 7,366 total were produced. NOTE: Colt ledgers are fairly complete on this Model; so it would be recommended the successful bidder send for a factory letter which may provide additional details on the gun and its recipient. Shipping can take up to 6-8 weeks. Buyer pays all packing, material, handling, shipping costs and insurance. International Shipments will be sent to an exporter and buyer agrees to pay all costs incurred including all shipping costs, insurance, exporter fees and all custom & applicable duty fees.
